What are enchants in Minecraft?

Simply put, casting spells is a way to enhance and add abilities to a Minecraft item, such as your armor, boots, sword, and more. Enchantments can not only give your item new properties, but also take its existing ability to a whole new level. You can use them to mine resources faster, fight better, and even improve your in-game luck.

The best part is that you can easily apply any enchantment. But before we continue with our guide to Minecraft charms, let’s take a quick look at how to find items with charms already applied to them.

So, without further ado, let’s go deep.

Where to Find Enchanted Items in Minecraft?

If you’re not in the mood to manually put charms on each of your gear, you can also get enchanted items by using the following methods:

Trading with villagers. Fishing in oceans and large rivers. Killing mobs, such as zombies or skeletons, that can carry an enchanted item. Rarely Minecraft Chests, which appear in almost all popular game structures. However, the likelihood of enchanted item chests appearing is highest in the end citiesPiglet Exchange in the Void. Bedrock users can also obtain enchanted items by killing revengers and robbers in raids.

How to cast enchantments on armor, boots, and swords?

If your research is inconclusive, you can add enchantments to your items manually. Minecraft offers two ways to apply enchantments in the game. And with our Minecraft enchantments guide, you can figure out each one individually.

Using Enchanted Books

Enchanted books are scattered throughout Minecraft worlds. You can trade with librarians or loot chests to find them. If there are enchantments, there is definitely an enchanted book for them. Don’t forget that some enchantments can only be used through an enchanted book.

All you need to use these books is to combine them with the item you want to enchant with an anvil. It only costs spheres of experience, which are easy to collect. If this method interests you, dive deeper with our tutorial on how to use enchanted books in Minecraft.

Using the Enchantment Table

At the heart of our Minecraft enchantment tutorial is the enchantment table. Like the workbench in Minecraft, this table is used to create in-game recipes. All you need is the item you want to enchant and lapis lazuli. Using these two items, the Enchanting table shows all the possible enchantments you can apply to it. It shows up to three enchantments at a time, as shown in the screenshot below.

Comparatively, this method is easier than using the Anvil, since it doesn’t require any research other than finding lapis lazuli. And if you’ve read our guide on ore distribution in Minecraft 1. 18, finding it is not that difficult. That’s why, to keep the balance, Minecraft has made many enchantments, such as soul speed, exclusive to enchanting books. But if the table still appeals to you, you can quickly make an enchantment table in Minecraft using our linked tutorial.

Everyone who has seen a home furnished with furniture, wondered how to make a bookshelf in “Minecraft”. The fact is that it has an incredible impact on the environment, because it looks impressive. Naturally, there’s nothing supernatural about it, but it has a charming homely atmosphere, which is what all gamers are trying to achieve. If you’re playing in adventure mode, you might not get the chance to create such a shelf, but then you just need to go to the nearest village. There, in the houses of non-player characters, you will find bookshelves that can be used. How? We’ll talk about this later – now we need to figure out how to make a bookshelf in “Minecraft”.

So in turn you do with each book on this subject.

What does the enchantment of the wanderer of the depths do in Minecraft?

Enchantment Enchantment in Minecraft is the process of putting special properties on objects, in order to improve their in-game qualities. This is done by using the enchantment table, which is created by combining 4 blocks of obsidian, 2 diamonds and a book.

How to make a magic table in Minecraft?

To make a table of enchantment in the game Minecraft, you need to put two diamonds in the left and right cells of the middle row in the craft window, fill the bottom row and the middle cell with four blocks of obsidian, and on top of the pyramid of these materials put a book.

The materials needed to craft the enchanted table are quite difficult to get. The easiest thing to deal with is the book. It can be made from three sheets of paper and a piece of leather obtained from cows. Paper is made from reeds obtained from the shores of any body of water.

Diamonds are quite difficult to find in the game Minecraft. For them it is necessary to go down into the mine. Deposits of gems are most often found in places where lava flows to the surface. To mine diamonds you need an iron pickaxe and many torches. Diamonds are needed not only in order to be able to make a table in Minecraft enchantment, but also to obtain obsidian, necessary for the crafting of magical objects. Obsidian is the strongest kind of block in the game, and therefore only a diamond pickaxe can destroy it. To make it you need three stones and two sticks.

To find the obsidian deposit, you need to fill the lava with water using a bucket. After that will appear strong blocks, which will have to be extracted with the diamond pickaxe. In addition to the enchantment table for witchcraft you will need a room consisting of bookcases, a lot of experience and items for enchantment. Enchantment-enhanced items can get a variety of useful properties. For example, you can make armor indestructible and weapons strong. Thanks to sorcery you can become stronger and faster than your opponents, that’s why it is so important to learn how to make the enchantment table in Minecraft.

The Enchantment Table is a block from the “Decorative Blocks” category that allows you to enchant weapons, tools and armor with the right amount of experience and lazurites. To enchant an item, you set the table on the ground, right click on it and in the left slot insert one of the allowed items (enchantment target), and in the right slot – the necessary amount of lazurite. When enchanting spends a certain amount of levels of the player, the more – the stronger the charms, but to enchant items at a level higher than 1 need to install bookshelves around the enchantment table, for bookshelves to work, they must be at a distance of 1 block from the table, 15 shelves gives the maximum level 30. To scruff the enchantment table you must first create a book, obtain 2 units of diamond and 4 units of obsidian. Recipe below.

The Enchantment Table is needed to be able to enchant armor, tools and weapons. For each enchantment you will have to spend a certain amount of player experience and some lapis lazuli. An object, which is enchanted, shimmers and glitters. Weapons are often enchanted for strength, armour – for strength and protection, tools – for efficiency or other positive effects. The book on the enchantment table is closed, but as soon as a player approaches it, the book opens and turns to the player.

What can be made from the Enchantment Table?

Here is what you can make from the Enchantment Table in Minecraft, i.e. what recipes use #OBJECT2# in Minecraft.

The Enchantment Table is rarely used in Minecraft to make other items, but there are still a couple of interesting recipes. The enchantment table can be used to make: a wizard’s book and an enchanted diamond bib.

The best enchantments in Minecraft

Next to each enchantment is written the number of levels needed to enchant things.

All enchantments must be applied strictly in order, otherwise the game will write “too expensive”.

Armor

If you want to get the most out of your flame/explosion resistance/protection enchantments, you will need to enchant at least one piece of armor for protection, or you can just enchant the whole armor for protection, except for one situational spell on a bib.

Helmet

  • Defense IV or Shell Protection IV or Fireproof IV or Explosion Resistant IV – 4 levels
  • Strength III – 4 levels
  • Underwater Breath III – 9 levels

  • Repairing – 33 levels
Total: 86 levels needed to fully enchant the helmet.

Chestplate

  • Shield IV or projectile IV or Flame IV or Explosion IV – 4 levels
  • Strength III – 4 levels
  • Spikes III – 15 levels
  • Repair – 9 levels
Total: 32 levels are needed to fully enchant a breastplate.

  • Repair – 33 levels
Total: 69 or 67 levels needed to fully enchant boots.

Weapons

Sword

  • Sharpness V (for general use) or Heaven’s Punishment V (for more damage against skeleton, zombie, zombie dweller, desiccator, skeleton dweller, zombified pygmy, skeleton horse, zombie horse, zymog, kadavrus, phantom, drowned man and zoglin. Useful for mobs) or Arthropod Scourge V (for more damage on spiders, cave spiders, scales, edge scales and bees, applies Slowness IV to them) – 5 levels
  • Splitting Blade III (deals more damage to multiple mobs) – 7 levels
  • Mining III – 9 levels
  • Durability III – 10 levels
  • Conspiracy of Fire II (Optional. Makes it harder to fight endermen because they teleport everywhere while they burn; hostile mobs that are set on fire will set you on fire in melee; cooks food dropped from cows, pigs, hogs, sheep, chickens, rabbits, cod and salmon) or Rebound II(optional. May make it difficult to fight drowned men and skeletons; useful against creepers) – 19 levels
  • Repair – 33 levels
Total: 83 levels needed to fully enchant a sword.

Axe

  • Efficiency V – 5 levels
  • Sharpness V or Celestial V or Arthropod Scourge V – 6 levels

  • Recoil II (optional) – 7 levels
  • Ignition – 9 levels
  • Repair or Infinity – Levels 17 or 19.
Total: 42 or 44 levels needed to fully enchant a bow.

Fixing can’t be applied along with durability. If you do not have enough resources to craft arrows it is recommended to apply Infinity, which will not waste them (just keep 1 arrow in inventory), however, you need enough iron for anvils to keep your bow at normal strength.

Crossbow

  • Piercing Arrow IV or Triple Shot – Level 4 or 2
  • Fast Reload III – 4 levels
  • Strength III – 6 levels
  • Repair – 9 levels
Total: 23 or 21 levels are necessary to enchant a crossbow.

With the Triple Shot enchantment, you have a greater chance to hit a mob, but the chance of unintentionally hitting someone else also increases. Piercing allows you to pick up arrows after hitting a mob, which almost replaces infinity. Piercing is usually better because it uses 1 durability per shot and triple shot uses 3.

Trident

  • Mending – 2 levels.
  • Durability III – 4 levels
  • Fidelity III and Thunderer or Puller III only – 6 and 11 levels or 9 levels
  • Piercing V (deals increased damage to aquatic creatures other than a drowning man) – 25 or 17 levels
Total: 48 or 32 levels are needed to fully enchant the trident.

Fidelity will be useful for battling mobs in all weathers. It will make your trident return to your hand unless you throw it into the void.

Pulling will be useful for moving quickly during rain or in water. It can also be used as a substitute for fireworks for elites when it rains or if there is a water source nearby.

The thunderer strikes with lightning where the trident hits during a thunderstorm. This can be used to turn a pig into a zombified piglin, a dweller into a witch, or a creeper into a charged creeper. If a charged creeper explodes near a zombie, skeleton or creeper, its head will fall out of the mob.

  • Luck III or Silk Touch – 9 or 7 levels

It is recommended to make a second pick with Silk Touch charms so that only this block will fall out when the block is destroyed.

Axe

Scissors

  • Strength III – 4 levels
  • Silk Touch – 7 levels
  • Mending – 9 levels
Total: 23 levels are necessary for the full enchantment of scissors.

It is recommended to enchant only in case of excess of the above books.

Firebrand

  • Strength III – 3 levels
  • Mending – 3 levels.
Total: 6 levels are needed for the full enchantment of the flame thrower.

It is not recommended to enchant, as you will have enough iron to craft multiple flamethrowers in the later stages of the game.

Shield

  • Strength III – 3 levels
  • Repair – 3 levels
Total: 6 levels are needed to fully enchant a shield.

It is recommended to enchant only if there is a banner on the shield.

Carrot-tipped Dredge

  • Strength III – 3 levels
  • Repair – 3 levels
Total: 6 levels are needed to fully enchant a carrot rod. Mangled Fishing rod
  • Strength III – 3 levels
  • Repair – 3 levels
Total: 6 levels are necessary to enchant a rod with distorted mushroom. Elites
  • Strength III – 3 levels
  • Repair – 3 levels
Total: 6 levels are needed to fully enchant eliters.

These enchantments are essential for eliters because durability extends their life by 4 times, and mending is the easiest way to mend them.

Conflicting Enchantments

Conflicting enchantments are enchantments that are incompatible with each other on the same armor, weapon or tool. The following enchantments are incompatible:

  • Defense, Projectile Defense, Firepower, and Explosion Resistance cannot be combined.
  • Sharpness, Celestial Punishment and Arthropod Scourge cannot be combined.
  • Silk Touch and Luck cannot be combined.
  • Infinity and Mending cannot be combined.
  • Piercing Arrow and Triple Shot cannot be combined.
  • Fidelity and Triple Shot cannot be combined with Pulling.
  • Icebreaker and Underwater Walking cannot be combined.
